Human history in this area is millenary and left its mark century after century.
In Val Cavallina have been registered signs of the presence of man since the prehistory; Paleolithical and Neolithical findings are the testimony of an important past.
The position of the valley, on the linking road between the plain and the Alpine regions, marked its history in the Roman age. But it’s in the Middle Age, a period of continuous quarrels among Seigniories, that Val Cavallina gains a strategic role.
In memory of that period remains the stone, the stone of towers and castles that throw their shape on peaceful waters and the stone of elegant buildings and town houses that come out from the green of gardens.
And we meet history and architectural testimonies of the past also in rustic living buildings, in sanctuaries and in the great number of churches present.
