Val Cavallina cycle path

Val Cavallina

A route through tranquillity and nature, along the course of the river Cherio, towards the shores of Lake Endine.

The Val Cavallina cycle track is the oldest cycle path in the province of Bergamo: in fact, the earliest stretches along the banks of the river Cherio had already been built by the end of the 1990s. It is a route suitable for everyone that allows you to experience all the charm of the Val Cavallina valley, pedalling almost all of its length and savouring the authenticity and natural beauty of its surroundings.

Route description

After reaching the Terme di Trescore Balneario (Trescore Balneario spa), cross the provincial road at the traffic lights towards Zandobbio, going over the bridge across river Cherio, where the cycle path begins.

Continuing towards the lake you can see the marble-working factories of Zandobbio, while on the other side of the valley there are the vineyards surrounding Villa Medolago Albani. On reaching Entratico, carry on along the course of the river, passing Luzzana and reaching Viale dei Tigli in Borgo di Terzo.

Then there is a brief climb up the road to Berzo San Fermo after which you go straight on to the hairpin bend, pedalling along a stretch of concrete paving that runs alongside State Road 42. Then take the uphill road to Colli di San Fermo for 300 metres before turning left. Carry on and keep right, and you will reach the hamlet Molini di Casazza.

After going through the centre of Casazza, take Via Piave and then Via dei Lazzaroni, which takes you to Monasterolo along side streets. After 300 metres of busy road, turn left into Via Monte Grappa; further on, take a dirt track that leads to the lake shore. Turn right and go straight on to reach the cemetery; turn right and, after having passed the churchyard, you will reach the square in Monasterolo where the route ends.

Many thanks to Roberto Lorenzi and Valle Seriana Bike for the route information and photographs.
