The gateway to a small corner of paradise. Some of the most beautiful paths in the area start from this village in Bassa Val Cavallina (Lower Val Cavallina valley).
The present-day community of Cenate Sopra was founded according to the intentions of Cardinal Carlo Borromeo, who, by commissioning the parish church of San Leone Magno at this ancient settlement, left a mark of identity recalling the original inhabitants of the location, which still today is named San Leone.
Coming down from the “perola” hill, arriving from the town after the hairpin bends, a long straight stretch opens up in front of you: as you emerge from the woods, the view of this small corner of paradise is revealed, where the lush green setting of Mount Misma becomes an invitation to stop and breathe the fresh air. Hidden in the woods, there is also the famous and popular Valpredina Natural Oasis, an area of valuable naturalistic value. Continuing towards the top of the hill, you reach the fine Church of Santa Maria in Misma, with its notable historical and artistic significance.
There are also many routes in the countryside around Cenate Sopra, such as the path that from the hamlet of Sant’Ambrogio leads first to the small church and then to the top of Mount Misma.
